GREENVILLE — Some events are back by popular demand at the Greenville Area Community Expo (GRACE), while the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce added new events for people to enjoy.
The expo will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pavilion at Klackle Orchards, 11466 W. Carson City Road. Admission is free but people are encouraged to bring items for local food pantries.
This year, the chamber is letting each booth have one interactive activity for people to participate in. A red balloon will be tied above a station to showcase it has an interactive activity.
The stage also will be used this year, giving the people a sneak preview of the Spectrum of Stars fundraiser scheduled for Oct. 8.
Healthy cooking demonstrations ATA Integrity Martial Arts also will take the stage.
An interactive driving while distracted simulater will be at the expo to show how distractions effect reactions.
The Oakfield Township Fire Department will have a smoke house available for children to experience, as well.
“There is a lot going on,” said Candy Kerschen, executive director of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce. “I’m very excited.”
Kerschen said one event that is back by popular demand is the Taste of Greenville. People can pay $1 and sample what local Greenville businesses have to offer.
When people vote for their favorite booths in specific categories, such as friendliest booth, they will be entered in a drawing for a stay-cation, which will be a dinner and overnight stay to spot close to home, Kerschen said.
There are also many things for the kids too, such as face painting, balloons, a clown and more.
The expo attracts more than 1,000 people each year. Kerschen said organizers are looking forward to a big turnout this year.
“It’s really cool to see so many (business) but in one spot,” she said. “Most don’t get this opportunity very often.”
