HOWARD CITY — A new recycling facility is slated to open Friday in Howard City.
The unmanned drop-off facility is located in the northeast corner of Leppink’s parking lot at 730 W. Shaw St. The site will be open 24 hours per day.
The 35-by-35-foot fenced-in area contains two 20-yard covered containers.
Accepted recyclables include clean plastic, metal cans, glass bottles and paper products. Recyclables do not need to be separated.
The Montcalm County Solid Waste Management Committee is coordinating the new site in conjunction with the Howard City Downtown Development Authority.
Members of the Solid Waste Management Committee hope utilization of the single-stream recycling model, in conjunction with the permanent drop-off location, will substantially increase the convenience, functionality and availability of recycling for Howard City and the surrounding area.
