SIDNEY — The 63rd annual Montcalm County Conservation District meeting will be Wednesday at Montcalm Community College.
The gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Doser Building.
A $10 catered dinner will be available for those who make reservations no later than 4 p.m. Monday by calling (989) 831-4606 ext. 3. Door prizes will be given away to certain attendees.
The evening’s guest speaker will be Kelly Meyer of Invenergy LLC. Meyer, who resides in Chicago, is managing the ongoing wind farm project in Gratiot County.
“It’s really a hot topic,” said Conservation District Executive Director Judy Cloer of wind energy. “Everything is green energy right now.”
The Montcalm County Conservation District board currently includes Chairman Bruce Noll, Vice Chairwoman Phyllis Larson, Treasurer Merrill Johnson, John Kurkowski and Steve Wyckoff. Board members will be introduced Wednesday night and elected to their offices.
Bruce Basom of Stanton and Tom Korty of Six Lakes will be the recipients of cooperator signs at Wednesday’s meeting.
“They’re people who went above and beyond in trying to conserve natural resources,” Cloer said.
