STANTON — Two young men were charged this month with home invasion after allegedly breaking into an occupied house while the residents were sleeping last summer.
Chase Eugene Plath, 18, and Travis Michael Coy, 17, both of Sheridan, were arraigned and charged Oct. 6 with first-degree home invasion, a felony with a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Both men pleaded not guilty and were bound over from 64B District Court to 8th Judicial Circuit Court, where they will be arraigned Oct. 27.
The Michigan State Police Lakeview Post responded to a home invasion during the early morning hours of June 25 on Mallard Drive in Bushnell Township.
The two men allegedly entered the home by removing a screen from a bedroom window. They allegedly stole a PlayStation 3 video game system and games.
Troopers eventually identified the suspects and recovered the stolen property. The Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants on Sept. 29.
