GREENVILLE — With the support of businesses and clients keeping their electric repair and service needs local, The Electric Professor, for the first time, was the top energy savings business participating in the Consumers Energy’s Small Business Solutions Program.
The Consumers Energy Business Solutions Program provides incentives for business customers who upgrade their facilities with energy efficient equipment.
The Electric Professor is operated by Brad Krause and Jeff Smejkal, second-generation owners of the business that was started by their fathers, Dave Krause and Glen Smejkal in 1978.
Electric Professor, which employs 15 people in Greenville, received the Consumer Energy award last Friday at a seminar in Grand Rapids.
“Thanks to our local businesses supporting us, having more opportunities and getting better at the program and making it more cost effective for our clients, we’ve managed to do very well this year,” Krause said.
Krause added the company expects a 33 percent growth in this fiscal year alone. Electric Professor covers the entire Montcalm County area, parts of Ionia and Kent counties, reaching out as far south as Wayland and as far east as Portland.
“We’ve got a lot of support from businesses that are keeping things local, especially the City and Greenville and Greenville Public Schools, which we are part of the construction of the new football field,” Krause said.
The Consumers Energy Small Business Solutions Program is available to all customers who receive electric or natural gas delivery service from Consumers Energy.
