STANTON — Nobody has filed an application for the Montcalm County treasurer position a week before the deadline.
A committee comprised of County Clerk Kristen Millard, County Prosecutor Andrea Krause and Probate Judge Charles Simon III are seeking applications to replace current Treasurer Marcia Sawdy.
Sawdy is retiring effective Dec. 31 after working 15 years as treasurer. She recommending her deputy treasurer, JoAnne Vukin, be appointed as her replacement.
Millard said nobody, including Vukin, has applied for the job as of Monday afternoon. Anyone interested in the position must submit a resume and applications by 5 p.m. next Monday.
Applications are available at or by calling Millard’s office at (989) 831-7339.
The committee will review the applications at 3 p.m. Dec. 1. Whoever is selected will be hired to fill the remainder of Sawdy’s term until Dec. 31, 2012, then would need to run for a new four-year term in the November 2012 general election.
