ALBION — Greenville High School graduate Patty Rewa was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women’s basketball Player of the Week for her play on Monday.

The award — handed out for the first time this season — was shared with Calvin College center Carissa Verkaik.

Rewa, a senior, led all MIAA players in scoring and rebounding last week averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds in three games.

On Nov. 15, Rewa scored 28 points and a career high 16 rebounds in a 62-58 loss to Ohio Northern. She also posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to North Park, Ill. on Nov. 19.

This is the third time Rewa has been named Player of the Week. She is shooting 56 percent from the floor and 83 percent from the free throw line.

Albion will host Spring Arbor today at 3 p.m.
