EUREKA TOWNSHIP — Police are blaming alcohol and icy roads for an early Thanksgiving Day accident that left a man injured.
Chadwick Jones, 19, of Gowen, was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue westbound on Harlow Road when he lost control near West County Line Road and hit a tree on the north side of the road around 1:40 a.m., according to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones, the only person in his vehicle, had to be extricated by the Greenville Department of Public Safety. Rockford Ambulance transported him to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville for treatment of serious injuries.
Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Russell said alcohol and icy roads likely were a factor in the accident.
Montcalm County Emergency Services and the Oakfield Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
