CARSON CITY — Chalk up two more wins for Carson City-Crystal’s wrestling team.

The Eagles won both their meetings in a quadrangular Wednesday, beating Breckenridge 54-18 and Ovid-Elsie 48-31.

“We wrestled well as far as we’ve got some kids that have injuries in our lineup,” CC-Crystal coach Kacy Datema said. “The kids stepped up and won the matches they needed to win.”

The Huskies were no problem for CC-Crystal, Datema noted.

“We wrestled real well against them (Breckenridge) and didn’t run into any problems,” he said.

The score against the Marauders may look close, but it wasn’t close, Datema said.

“Up high (in the heavier weights) we scored a bunch of points, then down low (in the lower weights) our guys that we need to be clutch for us came through pretty good,” Datema said.

Double winners for the Eagles were Kenneth Ditternber (103 pounds), Garner Cusack (125), Eric Ward (152), Logan Forist (171) and Travis Willet (215).

“I think other than some injuries we will be able to put it back together and end up with a solid season this year,” Datema said.

Those injuries are both Decker twins, Darrin and Dillon, and 189-pounder Brad Osterman, who is out with a shoulder injury.

“I think two of them will be back,” Datema said. “One of the Decker twins and Osterman will be back.”

Next up for CC-Crystal is the Ionia Invitational Dec. 29.
