MEETING IN BRIEF: Lakeview Village Council

Name of board: Lakeview Village Council.
Reporting official: Village Manager James Freed.
Meeting date: Dec. 12.
Actions taken:
1. Approved the agenda as amended.
2. Approved Nov. 14 meeting minutes.
3. Approved bills totaling $84,167.33. Dave Lund asked about the Kenmark invoice and what was budgeted. Village Manager James Freed indicated the budget amount and explained the bill is split with the Downtown Development Authority and the general fund. Dominic Trevino asked about the Fryover construction bill. Freed explained the invoice is for museum doors and roof.
4. Authorized Freed to enter into a grant contract with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for the wellhead protection program.
5. Appointed Freed as official emergency liaison for the village of Lakeview.
6. Accepted and adopted the Economic Vitality Incentive Program (EVIP) collaboration report and proposals as presented by Freed.
7. Authorized Freed to enter into amendment No. 1 of the Lakeview Municipal Airport layout plan updated version with Prein & Newhof at a cost of $5,000.
8. Approved blocking off the street during the Lakeview Winterfest and allowing a tent to be in the street area.
9. Approved holding off on Montcalm Alliance dues until a plan is submitted and approved.
Discussion items:
1. Chad Lincoln reported on behalf of the Jaycees about the Lakeview Winterfest scheduled for Feb. 3-4.
2. Department of Public Works Director Gary Jensen reported system loss is down from 25 percent to 5 percent.
3. Freed reported he is working on next year’s budget and will bring the budget to January’s meeting.
4. President Ed Winter reported on searching for a replacement for Ruth Schottle, who submitted her resignation to the village council. Freed will prepare a certificate of appreciation for Schottle’s service.

Members absent: Esther Collard.
