Stepson steals from mom in Sidney Township

SIDNEY TOWNSHIP — A stepson allegedly stole cash, electronics, jewelry and power tools from his mother’s home in Sidney Township.

Montcalm County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home invasion in the 2000 block of S. Derby Road at 11 p.m. Saturday.

The homeowner told deputies she suspected her stepson was involved in the home invasion.

Deputies located the 20-year-old stepson who allegedly confessed to the home invasion, along with two other crimes in the Detroit area.

Deputies located and recovered the stolen property and subsequently arrested the stepson. The man was transported to the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton, where he awaits a court hearing.

Deputies contacted Wayne County investigators regarding the Detroit-area crimes.
