CATO TOWNSHIP — A Coral man died and another man was injured in a single vehicle accident Monday afternoon south of Lakeview.
Stephen Duvall, 29, of Coral was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus northbound on Youngman Road around 12:45 p.m. when he lost control near Almy Road. The car veered across the road and hit several trees.
Duvall was pronounced dead at the scene.
Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services transported passenger John Spink III, 26, of Taylor, to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.
Neither Duvall or Spink were wearing seatbelts.

Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Hansen said there is no indication drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.
Montcalm County Undersheriff Mark Bellinger said road conditions were not a factor in the incident. He said Duvall may have began to veer across the road and tried to overcorrect.
Youngman Road was closed for several hours after the accident.
The Lakeview District Fire Department, Michigan State Police Lakeview Post and Road Commission for Montcalm County assisted at the scene.
