The Greenville Department of Public Safety is investigating a minor pedestrian vs. car accident after receiving somewhat conflicting stories. Timothy Root of Greenville saw a young girl get hit by a vehicle driving west on Orange Street near Barry Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Two people were taken to Spectrum Health United Hospital after a four vehicles collided south of Greenville. The accident was reported just after 11:15 a.m. in front of Brad’s Cleaners at 9410 S. Greenville Road (M-91).

A special Greenville Public Schools fund is going on two decades of helping keep needy children in the classroom.
Dan Eagles, a retired counselor from Greenville Public Schools, started the program in 1993.

Fifth graders from Baldwin Heights and Lincoln Heights elementary schools got to cut open chest cavities, remove gallbladders and give patients stitches Thursday. Greenville Public Schools and Spectrum Health United Hospital collaborated on the second mini medical school event at Baldwin Heights Elementary School. Fifth-grade students learned about professions in the health care field. “It’s important for (the hospital) to be involved with schools,” said Jennifer DenOuden, the hospital’s director of marketing and communications. “There is a value in partnering schools with hospitals.”
