SIDNEY TOWNSHIP — A local man was arraigned Wednesday afternoon after allegedly committing a hit and run accident, fleeing from police and refusing to cooperate.

Kevin Brower, 32, was charged in 64B District Court with operating while intoxicated, resisting and obstructing and driving while license suspended.

A Michigan State Police Lakeview Post trooper responded to a hit and run accident at Sidney Road and M-66 at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday.

Sgt. Joe Cairnduff said a vehicle was stopped and waiting to turn onto westbound Sidney road from M-66 when another vehicle struck it from behind. No one was injured in the accident.

A trooper doing a routine traffic stop nearby witnessed the accident and attempted to pull over the offending vehicle driven by Brower.

Brower allegedly refused to cooperate with the trooper. The trooper called the Stanton Police Department for back-up. The two officers had to force Brower to exit his vehicle.

Brower was taken to the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton, where he bonded out Thursday morning.
