Man arrested for armed robbery of Greenville’s Huntington Bank
GREENVILLE — A man is in custody for the alleged armed robbery of the Huntington Bank in Greenville last November.
FBI Agent John King confirmed that Reuben Olson III, 22, was in custody for the crime. Olson has not yet been arraigned.
“The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation between the FBI, the Greenville Department of Public Safety and the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office,” said King from his Grand Rapids office.
King declined additional comment at this time.
Greenville Department of Public Safety Interim Director Gary Valentine released a statement this afternoon. Valentine said on Nov. 9, 2011, the Huntington Bank in Greenville was robbed at gunpoint and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
“In mid-January, the Greenville Department of Public Safety formed a joint Task Force with the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI to investigate a series of crimes within the city, including the bank robbery, the Family Dollar armed robbery and Huch’s Fine Jewelry store retail fraud,” Valentine said.
“The hard and persistent work of the officers on the task force led to the arrest of Rueben Olson III in the bank robbery. The subject is currently in federal custody. The bank robbery is still an active investigation.”
Valentine said the Family Dollar armed robbery and the retail fraud at Huch’s Fine Jewelry store investigations are still ongoing and anyone with information is requested to contact the Greenville Department of Public Safety at (616) 754-9161 or Silent Observer.
