GREENVILLE – A 1-month-old baby died Thursday morning in Greenville.

Officers from the Greenville Department of Public Safety responded at 10:45 a.m. to a home on W. Grove Street after a report was made of an infant not breathing.

Upon arrival, officers found the baby’s father doing CPR on the infant with Montcalm County Central Dispatch coaching him over the phone.

Officers took over CPR and continued resuscitation efforts until the arrival of Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, who then took over the efforts.

The baby was later pronounced dead.

The investigation remains open pending the results of the autopsy and review by the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the Greenville Department of Public Safety.
