FERRIS TOWNSHIP — A Six Lakes man was transported to Carson City Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries Saturday night after he drove off Crystal Road and struck a tree.

David Ashbaugh, 62, had been traveling southbound on Crystal Road north of Stanton Road in a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser when, for unknown reasons, he drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies, Montcalm Emergency Medical Services and Crystal Township Fire responded to the crash at 11:31 p.m.

Ashbaugh was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

He was transported to Carson City Hospital by Montcalm Emergency Medical Services.

The incident remains under investigation.
