KEENE TOWNSHIP — Four people were injured after the car they were riding in lost control and rolled into a cornfield Tuesday.

Ionia County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Sharon responded to the accident at 11:37 a.m. on Hawley Highway near Ellison Road.

A 2007 Pontiac G6 was northbound on Hawley Highway when it crossed the center line and rolled into a ditch and then into a cornfield.

The four people inside the car included a man, 36, and a woman, 37, both of Saranac, a woman, 31, of Ionia, and a man, 30, of Florida. The man from Saranac was driving.

“My guess is that they hit some slush in the road and lost control,” Sharon said.

All four people were wearing seatbelts. They were transferred by ambulance to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Belding Fire Department and Rescue and Belding Towing assisted at the scene.
