Johnson, Rewa pick up college girls basketball honors

Two local women’s basketball players were given honors by the conferences their college plays in this week.

Belding’s Taylor Johnson and Greenville’s Patty Rewa were given honors by the Mid-American Conference and Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Association, respectively.

Johnson, a sophomore at Central Michigan University, won her second MAC Player of the Week honor of the season for her play last week against Northern Illinois Feb. 22 and Western Michigan Feb. 25.
Johnson averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the two wins.

It was the third honor of Johnson’s career and third time she was nominated this season alone.
Rewa was named to the all-MIAA first team for the second season in a row.

Rewa averaged 15 points and almost 10 rebounds a game during her senior season at Albion College. She finished her career with 1,088 points scored, sixth on Albion’s career scoring list.
