STANTON — Montcalm County has a new deputy treasurer.
Dorinda Kirshman began deputy treasurer duties on March 5. She replaces former deputy treasurer JoAnne Vukin, who is now treasurer. Vukin was in charge of hiring her own replacement.
A total of 32 people applied for the deputy treasurer job.
Kirshman formerly worked for the Montcalm County Equalization Department from 1981 to 2005. She also worked for the Mecosta County Equalization Department from 2005 to 2006, was assessor for Pine Township from 2006 to 2008 and worked for Gratiot-Isabella Regional Education Service District (RESD) from 2006 to 2011. She also volunteers for EightCAP and Lakeview Community Schools.
Kirshman attended Lakeview Community Schools and Montcalm Community College. She is a Level 3 Michigan advanced assessing officer, a personal property examiner and has also completed training through the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Michigan State Police.
