VESTABURG — Three Vestaburg girls basketball players here honored by the Mid-State Activities Conference for their play this season.
Emma Schuch was named to the all-MSAC first team, while Taylor Darmody was second-team and Lauren Bissell honorable mention.
Schuch averaged 10 points and 9.3 rebounds a game for the Wolverines.
“Her rebounding was her strong suit,” Vestaburg coach Gary Keyes said. “She got a lot stronger this year. Her defensive presence kept a lot of girls out of there (the lane).”
Darmody led the team wit 10.4 points per game and five rebounds a game.
“Taylor was instant offense,” Keyes said. “She was one of the girls who you had to game-plan for when she took it to the basket she took it to the basket and there wasn’t much you could do.”
Bissell averaged six points, 4.5 steals and five assists a game.
“She was my point guard,” Keyes said. “We went as she went. She controlled the tempo of the game. She had to be on the floor most of the time to keep us in sync.”
All three were seniors, Keyes noted.
“We’re going to be really young next year,” Keyes said. “We’ve only got two juniors on the team. It will be a rebuilding year. But we do have three sophomores (on the team this season) so we won’t be totally inexperienced.”
