STANTON — A Carson City man facing criminal charges in four different cases was arraigned Thursday in 8th Judicial Circuit Court.
Brandon Devers, 28, is charged with arson of personal property and receiving and concealing stolen property (a motor vehicle) in one case, possessing meth, possessing marijuana and fourth-degree fleeing and eluding a police officer in a second case and unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle in two other cases.
Devers stood mute Thursday so the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Michigan State Police troopers investigated the breaking and entering of a building in the Carson City area on March 5, where meth lab components were left behind.
Information was developed on a suspect and his possible location, as well as a vehicle, a red 1996 GMC Jimmy, which had been stolen that morning.
The stolen vehicle was seen on Crystal Road. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The driver attempt to evade a trooper by traveling at a high rate of speed over the distance of several miles, committing numerous traffic violations in the process.
The driver eventually stopped when he was unable to elude the trooper. The driver was determined to be the suspect, Devers. He had several felony warrants out for his arrest, in addition to the other charges.
The vehicle was identified as being stolen from a residence on Church Road in the Vestaburg area in the early morning hours. Upon a search of the vehicle, meth and marijuana were located and seized.
Devers was arrested and lodged in the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton.
