Stanton man arrested for stealing vehicle

EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP – A man was arrested this morning on suspicion of stealing a vehicle.

Deputies from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 30-year-old Stanton man after receiving a call at 5:07 a.m. about a property damage accident on Holland Lake Road near Wicker Road in Evergreen Township.

While investigating, deputies received information about a 2000 Chevrolet Prizm that was stolen from the 3600 block of Pine Trail Drive near the crash scene.

The owner of the vehicle involved in the crash stated he was not driving, but did identify who the driver was.

Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police troopers to follow up on the actual driver and locate the stolen vehicle.

The suspect was located, arrested and treated for minor injuries sustained from the crash.

The name of the suspect, who is currently on parole, is being withheld pending arraignment on charges.
