GREENVILLE — Strong winds brought down a live power line and large tree branch Monday afternoon around 1 p.m. on Lafayette Street in Greenville.

Sounthbound traffic was temporarily halted on Lafayette Street north of Charles Street when a large branch landed on the road. Greenville Public Works Department workers removed the branch shortly after it had fallen.

A down power line north of Congress Street was attended to and removed from the road by an employee of Consumers Energy with help from the Greenville Public Works Department and the Greenville Department of Public Safety.

Emergency crews throughout the area have been responding to several calls Monday of down lines and branches due to the strong winds.
