SIDNEY — The Montcalm Community College (MCC) Board of Trustees recently approved the appointment of Stephen Shoen of Stanton as a new trustee.
Shoen is replacing Richard Ellafrits of Greenville, who resigned in March. Shoen will fill Ellafrits’ term until November where Shoen can run for the remaining term time.
“Steve has worked in many areas of our district and he understand the community,” said Board of Trustees President Karen Carbonelli.
During the Board of Trustees meeting on April 10, Shoen said he was very honored to have been appointed to the trustee position. He said he is very familiar with the college and many of his family members have attended MCC.
“It’s a great, affordable place to get an education,” he said.
Shoen said during his career he has sat on many boards, including being chairman of the Carson City Hospital Board and chairman of the Sidney State Bank Board of Directors, where he retired as president and CEO in December 2010.
“Being on MCC Board of Trustees will be a different avenue for me,” Shoen said.
Shoen is a Central Montcalm High School graduate and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ferris State University, according to an MCC press release. He also is a graduate of the University of Michigan Graduate School of Banking and the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking.
