GREENVILLE- An 18-year-old Greenville man was arrested early Monday morning after being denied access to the Reno Bar and allegedly trying to start a fight in response.
A Greenville Department of Public Safety officer was on patrol around 12:30 a.m. when he observed two people engaged in a verbal altercation while standing in front of the Reno Bar at 201 S. Lafayette St.
As the officer approached, one of the subjects began walking away while removing personal items from a backpack and throwing them to the ground. The officer was able to stop the agitated man and investigate the matter.
Further investigation revealed that the man,Derrick Shaver, was 18 years old and he had allegedly entered the bar after he had already been drinking alcohol. He was not drinking in the bar. Shaver was refused service and asked to leave. He allegedly became upset and began yelling and challenging other patrons to a fight.
Shaver had indications of being under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and being a minor who had consumed alcohol. He was transported to and lodged at the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton.
