MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — The Montcalm Township Board has hired a new trustee to fill a position until the Nov. 6 election.

Ron Price was appointed to the trustee position during the township board’s regular meeting on April 18.

“He seems to be someone who really wants to help the community,” said Montcalm Township Clerk Carol Rosebrook.

Price said he has lived in the township for almost nine years and is interested in what is going in the community. He said his family has been in the area for more than nine years.

“We have a long history here,” Price said.

Montcalm Township Supervisor Mike Adams had approached Price in the past about being on the board, according to Price, so this time he thought he would apply.

“I have the most upward respect for (Adams) and the rest of the board,” Price said.

Rosebrook said Price is open-minded and wants to get all the information before making decisions on items.

Price said he is looking forward to getting a feel for the position and plans to keep an even keel across the board.

“I have (the residents’) interest in mind,” Price said.

Price is filling the position after the former trustee Rick Rought resigned to follow a calling to be a missionary.

Price will fill the position until November, when he can choose to run for the remaining term.
