Name of board: Winfield Township Board.
Meeting date: March 8.

Action items:
1. Approved the agenda.
2. Approved the clerk’s report as read.
3. Approved the treasurer’s report, including $20,933.04 for the fire department, $33,929.17 for the municipal fund, $49,416.83 for the tax account and $88,446.27 for general checking for a total of $192,725.31.
4. Approved continuing a $4,600 contract with Mike & Sons for mowing the park and cemetery.
5. Approved a $36,482 chloride contract with the Road Commission for Montcalm County for three applications at a rate of 2,000 gallons per mile.
6. Approved paying bills totaling $8,783.90, including an IRS deposit.
7. Approved accepting a contract of $2,500 with Mike Campbell to do an audit at the end of the fiscal year.
Discussion items:
1. Zoning Administrator Dave Kelsey issued three permits in February.
2. Trustee Dan Kanouse reported the Planning Commission is working on changes to the township ordinance books.
3. Township cleanup day will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 2 at Larson-Keller Park. Call Kanouse at (616) 446-2017 for more information.

2. Approved the clerk’s report as read.
3. Approved the treasurer’s report, including $20,937.34 for the fire department, $33,936.14 for the municipal fund, $40,924.11 for the tax account, and $108,350.18 for general checking for a total of $204,147.77.
4. Approved reappointing Lori McLellan, Jim Knapp and Ben Kinsey to the Planning Commission with terms ending Jan. 1, 2014, and reappointing Tom Kok, Dale Ulrich and John Black to the Planning Commission with terms ending Jan. 1, 2015.
5. Approved paying bills totaling $9,856.39, including an IRS deposit.
6. Approved having Clerk Colleen Stebbins call Jordon Selesky to fix ground at the township hall.
Discussion items:
1. Assessor Jerilyn Strong reported the Board of Review is working on PREs to be done by May 1. The 20 percent review will be worked on in June.
2. Eric Liddy reported $300 was donate to the fire department fund. Liddy is seeking grants to replace two grass rigs, as one was removed from service, plus a new tanker and expanding ore replacing the fire barn. Liddy said an increased gallon capacity tanker may change the rating for the township. Liddy reported there were several brush fires and a downed power line in March.
3. Bruce Noll from the Montcalm Conservation District have a presentation on the functions and funding of the organization. He is requesting a $1,000 donation from each township in Montcalm County.
4. Zoning Administrator Dave Kelsey reported one permit was issued in March.
5. Trustee Dan Kanouse reported the Planning Commission approved a township survey and would like the township board to review and approve it at the budget workshop.
6. Supervisor Phyllis Larson distributed copies of road contracts for board members to review at the budget workshop.
7. Montcalm County Commissioner Ron Baker reported on Board of Commissioner news.
8. Assessor Jerilyn Strong reported the township will eventually need to update the assessor and tax software. She recommends BS&A software, assessor.net and tax.net and she will look for discounted prices.
9. Township clean-up day will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 2 at Larson-Keller Park. Call Kanouse at (616) 446-2017 for more information.
10. David Dowd completed his Eagle Scout project and passed the Board of Review and is now an Eagle Scout for Troop 95 in Lakeview.
11. Stebbins distributed the budget from lat year and the budget of what has been spent this fiscal year for the upcoming budget workshop.
