GREENVILLE — Kent Foundry of Greenville will be featured on Thursday in a documentary the Discovery Channel has produced regarding cannon replicas.

Kent Foundry, a leading manufacturer of gray and ductile iron castings, has been included a documentary that will air on the Science Channel, which is owned by the Discovery Channel.

The show will air at 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Kathy Porter, purchasing manager at Kent Foundry, said the Discovery Channel came to the business last year and did a whole day of filming while the company made casting for a client, South Bend Replicas.

She said South Bend Replicas requested the casting of a cannon from the 1800s. South Bend Replicas took the casting and went through the process of making the replica into a real cannon that fires.

Porter said although the show will mostly focus on South Bend Replicas and its process of making the cannon, Kent Foundry will be featured at the beginning as it makes the casting for the product.
