UPDATE: Two injured in accident near Five Corners store
PINE TOWNSHIP — Two people involved in a car accident Thursday afternoon are in stable condition at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Michigan State Police Troopers from the Lakeview post responded to an accident at the intersection of M-91 and Kendaville Road near the Five Corners store at 12:42 p.m.
A red Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Pamela Bartolo, 43, of Lakeview, was traveling north on M-91 when a white Dodge van traveling east on Kendaville Road driven by Elhabji Ndiaye, of Louisville, Ky., failed to yield at a stop sign and struck the Grand Prix.
Both individuals were transferred via ambulance to Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview before being transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Ndiaye complained of injuries on scene and Bartolo, who had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Lakeview District Fire Department, received series injuries.
Both are in stable condition.
Ndiaye was cited with hazardous action with a fail to yield and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Medical Services assisted on scene.
