Free food distribution day for Ionia-Montcalm residents

GREENVILLE —EightCAP Inc. will be distributing The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) for Ionia County and Montcalm County on Tuesday, May 15.

Food will be distributed from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. or until supplies are gone at Greenville Community Church, 6596 S. Vining Road in Greenville

Food will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until gone at the Moose Lodge, 869 E. Lincoln St. in Ionia.

Food will include green beans, carrots, canned chicken, corn, milk, mixed fruit, pitted plums, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and vegetable soup.

A new resource line is available in Montcalm and Ionia Counties for people to dial when they have questions. 2-1-1 is set up for anyone to use for free to get connected to information about critical health and human services available in each county.

Toys for Tots offering second distribution day

Toys for Tots will host a second toy distribution for Montcalm County children in need. There is still time if you know a child that didn’t receive toys from the first toy distribution on Saturday and did not receive toys from the Lions Club distribution.

Montcalm County residents to vote on sheriff’s coverage millage

Voters will decide how much coverage they want from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department. The County Board of Commissioners voted 7-1 on Monday to bring a $1.5 million proposal to the people to maintain and increase sheriff’s coverage for the next five years.
