Burglar breaks into vacant home, leaves behind MSU baseball cap

NORTH PLAINS TOWNSHIP — Police are looking for someone who broke into and vandalized a vacant house, leaving a Michigan State University baseball cap behind.

Michigan State Police Trooper James Yeager responded to a malicious destruction of property complaint Sunday in the 11000 block of Jessup Road.

Yeager discovered numerous windows and doors of a vacant residence were damaged.

Yeager recovered evidence from the scene. One of the items left at the scene was a Michigan State University baseball cap.

The Central Michigan Enforcement Team (CMET) assisted the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post with an investigation into a methamphetamine lab located in Pewamo. Troopers were acting on a tip they had received regarding the manufacture of meth at the home.

UPDATE: Child pinned under vehicle released from hospital

A 7-year-old-child who was pinned under a vehicle after a rollover accident Monday morning was treated and released the same day at Carson City Hospital with minor injuries.

According to Michigan State Police Sgt. Joe Cairnduff, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling northbound on Blackmer Road just before 8 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions and crossed over the center line into a cornfield.

Carson City Hospital now home to new DaVinci surgical system

Carson City Hospital is now home to one of the most advanced surgical systems available. The DaVinci Surgical System, a robotic surgical device, is designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. The hospital received the system about a month ago. More than 10 surgeries have been performed using it.
