SHERIDAN —  A second motorist involved in a two-vehicle accident in Sheridan on April 29 died from injuries sustained in that accident.

Timothy Cain, 33 of Sheridan, died Friday morning at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids from injuries he received in the accident.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s office, a 1995 Chevy Blazer driven by Cain was traveling eastbound on Sessions Road when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of Sessions Road and South Sheridan Road at 5:30 p.m.

Cain struck a southbound 1997 Chevy Astro Van, driven by 72-year-old Larry Claflin of Iowa.

After impact, both vehicles left the roadway southeast of the intersection.

Both drivers, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from their vehicles.

Claflin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
