Fenwick man charged with attempted murder

FENWICK – A Fenwick man has been charged with attempted murder and other charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the head.

Ronald Kent, 52, is charged with assault with intent to commit murder (a felony with a possible life sentence), two counts of felony firearms (each a two-year felony) and manufacturing more than 20 but less than 200 marijuana plants (a seven-year felony).

Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of W. Boyer Road in Fenwick for a domestic violence call.

When troopers arrived, they found a 32-year-old women had been shot in the head by her boyfriend.

Kent was arrested at the scene.

The woman was transported to the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where she is in critical condition.

Three children were in the house at the time of the shooting, but none were physically injured.

Assisting departments included the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Medical Services.
