Fenwick man faces attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting girlfriend

FENWICK – A woman was allegedly shot in the head by her boyfriend during a domestic dispute Wednesday night in Fenwick.

Michigan State Police Lt. Kevin Sweeney said troopers were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. to the 1000 block of W. Boyer Road in Fenwick for a domestic violence call.

When troopers arrived, they found a 32-year-old Fenwick women had been shot in the head by her 52-year-old boyfriend, also of Fenwick.

“He was arrested at the scene,” Sweeney said.

The man was arrested for attempted murder, according to a press release by the Michigan State Police Post in Lakeview.

The women was transported to the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Sweeney said, where she is in critical condition.

The release stated three children were in the house at the time of the shooting, but none were physically injured.

Sweeney said the names of the parties involved are not being released at this time.

Assisting departments included the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office and EMS.
