Depending on the day, it may not look or feel like winter as you step outside, but come Saturday dozens of individuals will embrace the cold winter temperatures of Clifford Lake as they plunge into the icy waters. In an effort to raise funds for year-round sports training and athletic competitions for more than 18,600 children and adults with disabilities in Michigan, participants will jump into the frozen waters of Clifford lake at the fourth annual Polar Plunge at Clifford Lake Inn.

The question of whether spirits from the afterlife are among us here on earth has lingered for centuries, but according to one paranormal investigation team, Clifford Lake Inn in Stanton is officially haunted with their presence. G.H.O.S.T. Paranormal Investigations, based out of Mount Pleasant, officially declared the restaurant haunted earlier this year. Their findings, despite what you may believe, were discovered using equipment and tactics similar to what you might see on several paranormal television shows, but without the theatrics.

It was the coldest day so far this winter, but it didn’t stop participants from helping raise money for Special Olympics. The fourth annual Polar Plunge at Clifford Lake was one of 24 scheduled around the state the next few months to help raise funds for year-round sports training and athletic competitions for more than 18,600 children and adults with disabilities.

A Derby Lake home was destroyed in a fire early this morning while the owner was about 90 miles away. Stanton Community Fire Department responded to 704 Sunset Avenue at 5:38 a.m. Friday.
