Thief arrested after owner spots stolen motorcycle

SIDNEY TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Stanton man is in jail in connection to a reported theft of a motorcycle on County Farm Road Thursday afternoon.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s office, the theft was reported shortly before noon and during the early evening hours later the same day, the owner saw two suspects with his motorcycle on Sidney Road west of M-66.

The owner confronted the two and called the sheriff’s office. The motorcycle, a 2001 Honda, was turned over to the owner at that time.

A 14-year-old Sheridan youth is expected to be charged at a later date.

A 17-year-old from Stanton is in custody for disorderly conduct and “window peeping” after fleeing from a home in the 2700 block of West Cannonsville Road. Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a prowler call at 11:22 p.m. Saturday. The homeowner reported two subjects fleeing from the scene.

A man was arrested this morning on suspicion of stealing a vehicle. Deputies from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 30-year-old Stanton man after receiving a call at 5:07 a.m. about a property damage accident on Holland Lake Road near Wicker Road in Evergreen Township.

Teenager arrested after confessing to stealing car

A 14-year-old male was arrested for unlawful driving away of an automobile early Monday morning after authorities responded to the Half Moon Lake Hotel on a report of a stolen vehicle. While Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the incident at the hotel around 2:30 a.m., a caller reported a male subject, described as wearing a black hoodie, and said he was running eastbound in the area of Janet Drive.
