SIDNEY TOWNSHIP – The cause is unknown after an early-morning fire destroyed a log cabin in Sidney Township.

Sheridan Community Fire Department responded to a structure fire just after 5:30 a.m. on the corn of Ferris and Wise Roads.

“It was fully involved when we arrived,” said Ed Lingeman, assistant fire chief.

No one was hurt in the fire and department was unable to talk to the homeowner because they did not permanently live there.

“It was someone’s home away from home,” he said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  Lingeman said the cabin did not have and electric or gas in the house.

Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.

“It was a total loss,” he said.
