A liquor license was recently approved by the Greenville City Council as the first step to opening a new brew pub in Greenville. On Feb. 7, the council approved a resolution from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission in connection with a brew pub liquor license request. The 57 Brew Pub and Bistro is being planned for the site where J.R. Roller Castle once sat at 1310 W. Washington Street (M-57).

The Greenville Public Schools bond project is coming along well, but there are still many things to finish before the new school year begins. “At this point, I am only hearing excitement,” said Superintendent Pete Haines of comments made by school officials. “Certainly, much focus is on the stadium, which has our athletes and band members all a buzz.”

As construction workers begin the battle against freezing temperatures, high winds and several inches of fresh snow, progress on the new Legacy Field football stadium at Greenville High School is continuing. Superintendent Pete Haines said all work on the new stadium is on schedule and crews have yet to have to use any “weather days,” taking time off due to weather conditions thanks to a mild start to the winter season.

Signs of construction are all over Spectrum Health United Hospital a month into a $10 million expansion and renovation project. Many items have already been checked off the list already, according to spokeswoman Jennifer DenOuden. Hospital functions have been rearranged to accommodate the work.
