Greenville American Legion to host flag burning ceremony

GREENVILLE — The Greenville American Legion Post will hold a flag burning ceremony on Flag Day.

At 6 p.m. on Thursday, members of the American Legion will properly dispose of flags behind the legion, and the community is invited to take part in the event.

“The more people that we have, the more we like it,” said Charles Riker, legion member for 41 years.

Flag days, he said, is set aside to dispose of flags. People are encouraged to bring the flags to the American Legion.

He said after the ceremony takes place, flags will be stacked and disposed of properly.
