STANTON — The Tri County Middle School principal has been charged with embezzlement and remains on administrative leave.
Principal William “Bill” Cichewicz was arraigned today in 64B District Court in Stanton. He is charged with embezzlement between $1,000 to $20,000. He faces a pre-trial on July 2 and a preliminary examination on July 3.
Cichewicz was placed on leave earlier this month, according to Tri County Area Schools Superintendent Al Cumings.
“I took the unusual step of placing our middle school principal on administrative leave, pending investigation of alleged financial irregularities involving some of the school’s fundraising accounts,” Cumings said. “We will follow our district policies and personnel protocols to ensure appropriate process is honored.”
Cuming declined to comment further on the criminal case.
Robert “Bob” Cichewicz, the father of Bill Cichewicz, served as a longtime school board president and board member for Tri County Area Schools.
High School Principal Kurt Mabie continues to serve as middle school principal while Cichewicz is on administrative leave.
