GRAND RAPIDS — A Greenville man has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography.

Benjamin Charles Small was charged in March with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography — both felonies. He pleaded guilty earlier this month to distributing child pornography.

The case was filed in February in U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan after a grand jury indictment. The charges alleged that Small knowingly distributed child pornography in the form of digital images via the Internet to an undercover FBI agent in California in January 2010 from Montcalm County. The charges also alleged that Small knowingly possessed one or more computer files containing images of child pornography from January 2010 to May 2010 in Montcalm County.

According to the indictment, the child pornography images were produced using materials that had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce, including a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer, a Seagate 500 GB external hard drive and several CDRs.

When FBI agents arrived at Small’s home in Greenville to investigate, they learned he had moved to Jackson. They located him and interviewed him.

Small told FBI special agents he had a collection of child pornography on his computer. He said his collection mainly included children young enough to wear diapers because he had a diaper fetish. He said he had been collecting child pornography for several years.

Small will be sentenced Sept. 20 in U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan.
