MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — A variety of fast and colorful rides are being featured at this year’s Montcalm County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Unlimited rides for $12 are available from 2 p.m. to close Saturday at the Montcalm County 4-H Fairgrounds in Montcalm Township just north of Greenville.
The Demolition Derby with a burnout contest will also take place at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 for that event.

Rod McKeown had gone into the bull-riding competition at the Montcalm County 4-H Fair on Friday night with one injury already. The White Cloud man was already nursing an injured left hand, so he had to ride the bulls at the annual Brandt Clark Rodeo with his other hand.

It’s a hot one out there. With temperatures forecasted to be in the mid-90s today and Friday, people and animals at the weeklong Montcalm County 4-H Fair are scrambling to stay cool. Barb Altizer, horse show manager and a member of the horse leaders board, said fair officials have made quite a few changes to adjust to soaring temps.

More than 400 families arrived during the first hour of Kids Day at the Montcalm County 4-H Fair on Wednesday. Kids Day was a three-hour event packed with fun and games for children of all ages.
