Stanton woman escapes attempted sexual assault

SIDNEY TOWNSHIP — The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted criminal sexual assault of a woman who successfully escaped after she was attacked.

A 23-year-old Stanton woman reported at 10:39 p.m. Sunday that she had been walking near a small lake in the Colby Ranch game area when she was approached by a man driving a red car.

The man made sexual advances toward the woman and became hostile after she refused.

The man then attacked the woman, choked her and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman was able to escape and call 911.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’11”, 30 to 40 years old, weighing 250 pounds with a “big gut” and a “shiny bald head.” He was wearing sunglasses, a red T-shirt and cut-off blue jean shorts.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a “long” red car, possibly an Oldsmobile.
