Art Cruise applications now being accepted
STANTON — Forms for artists of all kinds are available at participating businesses for the 2012 Art Cruise, an event that was introduced to the annual Stanton Old Fashioned Days last year.
Application forms must be submitted between July 24-27, accompanied by photographs of each artwork. Each artist may submit up to three pieces of art. There is no entrance fee and cash prize amounts will be announced at a later date.
Registration must be completed at Hotel Montcalm in Stanton, the Art Cruise headquarters.
Artwork will be on display from July 30 to Aug. 11.
This year’s Art Cruise will have three categories artists can sign up for: photography, three-dimensional and painting and drawing. A new category this year includes young artists up to 18 years of age. Youth artwork will be displayed in a central location and will be judged by a panel of local artists.
Artists are allowed to review the list of participating businesses to determine the venue most appropriate for his or her artwork. Each artist will then meet with that business owner or manager to determine what, how and where to display the artwork; however, each participating business reserves the option to select the artwork to be displayed.
Voters must be at least 18 years old and must register before voting. A voter votes only once in each of the three categories. Winners will be determined by most popular vote. Also, an “Artist Choice” award will be presented by the Montcalm Art Association.
Votes will be tallied at 2 p.m. Aug. 11. Winners will be announced as soon as the results are available.
