Montcalm Township woman walks into burglary in progress

 MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — Deputies from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a breaking and entering that took place Tuesday morning on West Peck Road east of M-91 in Montcalm Township.

According to Lt. Steve Russell, the woman who owns the home at that address returned from running errands and noticed an older model black Ford pickup truck parked near her house. When she entered the home she heard loud noises coming from her bedroom and saw that several items for an upcoming trip were missing from her kitchen.

The woman left the home and called 911.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Greenville Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene, but by then the suspects had fled and could not be located.

Deputies were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
