The 25th annual Wish-A-Mile 300 Bicycle Tour will be making its way through Lakeview and Greenville this weekend as more than 900 raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.
On Saturday morning riders will enter Montcalm County on Lakeview Road north of Lakeview, cycle through town and continue along M-91 toward Greenville.
Riders will then exit off M-91 at Dickerson Lake Road, heading east until taking a right onto Fitzner Road. Continuing south on Fitzner, riders will then take Peck Road to Vining Road before arriving on East Van Deinse Street, where cyclists will stop at the Seiter Education Center for lunch.
“The wish-a-mile tour is the largest event that Make-A-Wish Michigan puts on every year,” said Community Relations Manager Meghan Mair of Make-A-Wish Michigan. “It’s a huge event for us because it raises money for Michigan children — 450 eligible children are awaiting wishes in Michigan. Last year this event brought in $1.8 million and we’re hoping to raise close to $2 million this year.”
The bicycle tour is a three-day event that begins in Traverse City and ends in Brooklyn, traveling 300 miles.
“Participants ride and volunteer in honor of Wish Heroes, kids who have had or will soon have their wishes granted,” Mair said. “Participants and Wish Heroes reunite with each other at the finishing line at the famous Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn at the conclusion of the event.”
