MONTCALM TOWNSHIP — Two people were transported to the hospital with injuries after Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on M-91 Saturday morning.
At approximately 5:48 a.m., deputies arrived on scene of the accident on M-91 south of Spencer Road.
According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old Greenville man was occupying a 1991 Pontiac Dynasty which was traveling southbound on M-91 and crossed the center line, striking an oncoming 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 40-year-old woman from Fenwick.
The woman was able to avoid a head on collision and her vehicle sustained damage to the driver side, pinning her in the car and requiring extrication by the Montcalm Township Fire Department.
She complained of pain to her left arm and was transported to United Memorial Hospital by Montcalm County Emergency Services for treatment.
The man occupying the Pontiac Dynasty complained of having lost consciousness and was also transported to United Memorial Hospital by Life EMS for treatment.
He also stated that he was not the driver of the vehicle, but a passenger, claiming that the driver had fled on foot prior to police arrival.
It appears alcohol may be a factor in the accident and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information or possible witnesses are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (989) 831-7590 or the Sheriff’s Tip Line at (989) 831-7593.
