STANTON — A local man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulting her and four of her friends.
Michael Jones, 45, of Belding, is charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count of assault and one count of home invasion. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
According to Greenville Department of Public Safety Director Michael Pousak, officers responded to an apartment on Washington Street (M-57) in Greenville on July 31.
Jones allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, despite the fact that she has a personal protection order (PPO) against him. Jones then assaulted his ex-girlfriend, along with two women and two men who were also in the apartment. All five victims sustained minor injuries.
“By the time officers got there, the fight was pretty much over,” Pousak said. “The main aggression had subsided a little bit.”
Jones is scheduled for a pre-trial next Monday and a preliminary examination next Tuesday in 64B District Court.
He has also been charged with violating his ex-girlfriend’s PPO.
