PIERSON – A man has been released from the hospital after crashing his motorcycle into the back of a pickup truck on Saturday.

According to Michigan State Police Lakeview Post Trooper Ed Brinkman, traffic was stopped on Stanton Road while cars were pulling into a mud bog around 2:55 p.m.

Brinkman said David Vanalstine, 52, of Big Rapids came up on the traffic and tried to stop, but crashed his motorcycle into the back of the pickup truck driven by Eric Olson, 38, of Pierson.

“(Vanalstine) was taken by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Technicians to Spectrum in Grand Rapids,” Brinkman said, noting he had non-life threatening injuries.

According to Community Service Trooper Keith Disselkoen, Vanalstine was released from the hospital on Sunday.

Olson was not injured in the crash.
